Stefanie Nanes is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Hofstra University. She is the author of “Fighting Honor Crimes: Evidence of Civil Society in Jordan,” in Middle East Journal, and “National Identity in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: State Made, Still Durable,” in Nationalism in a Global Era: The Persistence of Nations. Her research interests include gender, national identity, and citizenship. She is currently developing a project on local governance in Jordan.
