Tel: +1-718-997-5526 (office) Mandana Limbert is assistant professor of anthropology at Queens College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Her research focuses on religion, gender and modernity in Oman. She has published a number of articles, including "The Senses of Water in an Omani Town" in Social Text 19 (2001) and "Gender, Religious Knowledge and Education in Oman" in Monarchies and Nations: Globalization and Identity in the Arab States of the Gulf. Her book, Of Ties and Time: Gender, Sociality and Modernity in Oman, is currently under contract. She is also working on a new project on notions of identity, the history of servitude, and marriage practices of Omanis in Oman and Zanzibar. |
